Puppy
Tales Team Member Flo is a registered therapy dog and has also passed the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test. She is owned and handled by Bob Willins. Both Flo and Bob are registered members of R.E.A.D.® (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) and have received special training in literacy. Flo came to live in the Willins family in 2003 from the Morristown, New Jersey Seeing Eye School. "I went to live with a blind person after I was trained and tried very hard. But it did not work out. I'm glad! I love where I live now and they tell me I will never, ever leave." sighs Flo. Flo loves chasing tennis balls and also loves her large dog bone snacks. "I'll chase a ball forever ... but I do like those bone treats too." smiles Flo. Flo is an active member of the Forest Grove Fire Department. She loves to go into schools during Fire Prevention Week and work with the kids. And, of course, every week there are Fire Department meetings and training. "I don't miss a meeting. I have to keep everyone in line." grins Flo. The only thing that Flo does not like is loud noises especially fireworks. "It hurts my ears!" says Flo. "Oh, don't forget .... I hate it when when I have to stay home alone. I get lonely so fast." Flo is looking forward to having children read her many, many books. "I like that more than even chasing tennis balls." Will you be the lucky one to read a book to Flo? |
