Bacardi

Bacardi is a greyhound/lab who is a registered therapy dog and is also registered with R.E.A.D.© (Reading Education Assistance Dog). He passed the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test. Bacardi is owned and handled by Debbie Sauerbrey. He is registered with the United Kennel Club.

Bacardi is what is called a rescue dog. “No one wanted me” whispers Bacardi. But as soon as he came into the Sauerbrey home Bacardi knew this would be a place to stay forever. “My mom and dad had everything set up for me – my own food dish, a bowl full of water and even a collar to wear.”

Bacardi is a very special dog because besides doing therapy work he is a service dog. “I help mom keep her balance when she walks. I’m right there to help if she falls and I pick up and bring things to mom when she needs them.” Bacardi’s favorite thing is picking up coins, “I just flip it in my mouth! Easy!” laughs Bacardi.

A favorite place for Bacardi is the backyard. His favorite toy is a stuffed gorilla. “It makes gorilla noises” giggles Bacardi. He loves to sunbathe and watch people and animals through the window.

Bacardi can’t wait until it is his turn to listen to stories at the library. His favorite book is Magic Windows but he loves all books. Come read to Bacardi and give him a rub behind his ears. He will love you forever!
