Pearl is a therapy registered Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She has also passed her AKC Good Citizen Test. Pearl is owned and handled by Kay Datesman and they are registered and have received special training with R.E.A.D.© (Reading Education Assistance Dog).

Staffordshire Bull Terriers have been recognized by the American Kennel Club since 1935. A breed characteristic is their affinity with people and particularly children. "I do love everyone. Mom says that is why so many people love me." smiles Pearl.

Pearl is an obedience trained dog with American Kennel Club titles in Rally Obedience. "I get to go in a ring all by myself and mom tells me what I'm supposed to do. It's not that hard." says Pearl. She also loves to jump and run through tunnels and has American Kennel Club Agility titles. Pearl is a hard worker. She loves to listen to the voices of children reading .... she loves to be petted ... she loves short books and is very fond of Dr. Seuss books. Her favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham and short dog stories. Pearl likes the Martha books but thinks they are a little too long. "Martha is brave, but so silly! Why does she eat all that alphabet soup!?" asks Pearl.

Pearl has a brother named Manor's Charming Billy. Pearl's full name is Manor's Precious Pearl. She lives in Estell Manor with a houseful of other brothers and sisters."There is never a dull moment at my house." grins Pearl.

"I am so excited about coming to the library. I am trying very hard to listen, stay on my blanket and be a good dog. I even wash inside my ears before I come to Puppy Tales." Will you be the lucky one to read a story to Pearl?
