See Genta do agility

Deja Vu Genta CDX OA OAJ CGC (simply called Genta) is a Bichon Frise who is a registered Therapy Dog . He also passed his American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Test and is registered with special training through R.E.A.D. ® (Reading Education Assistance Dogs).

Genta was born in Phoenix, Arizona on February 7, 2002. He traveled to Vineland in the passenger section of an airplane when he was only 11 weeks old."My new mom put me in this really, really soft case. It was cozy and I even had something to chew on. I wasn't scared at all. My human brother Lance kept telling me everything would be just fine!" says Genta.

Genta lives with two cats named Mr. Nasdaq and Ms. Olivia. "I like cats and we sometimes kiss" says Genta. He has a Golden Retriever brother named Bounce. "Bounce is learning to be a Puppy Tales dog but he has a long way to go." laughs Genta. Let me see that picture!

Genta goes to school at Pinelands K9 Club. In 2005 Genta earned his American Kennel Club Obedience CD (Companion Dog) title finishing his final leg at the Philadelphia Kennel Club show in first place. Front & Finish named Genta the #1 Bichon in Novice A Obedience during 2005. In February, 2008 Genta earned his AKC CDX title. Genta also competes in agility. "I love to jump and whiz through those tunnels" says Genta. "I also like to win ribbons for mom - it makes her happy. But I like the treats and stuffed toysI get at the end of the day more than those ribbons."

Bichons are happy, gentle, sensitive little dogs bred to be companions. They should never be left alone for long periods of time and are happiest curled up in someone's lap. Bichons think they should share your bed and truly believe you feel the same way. This breed gets along with everyone including other dogs. This is a non-shedding breed but the Bichon coat should be combed out everyday to prevent mats and must be professionally groomed every 4-6 weeks. Although most Bichons love children this is not a good choice for a very young child. The Bichon cannot take the rough handling a toddler might dish out. Like many small breeds it does take time and patience to housebreak a Bichon although the process is not difficult. Bichons are highly intelligent and respond best to a loving hand and gentle training.

Genta loves children. He is not a very good reader but loves to listen to stories. He hopes many children will come to the library to read stories to him. Genta says, "Please read to me and show me lots of pictures. I'll try to sit quietly even if it is hard sometimes." Will you be the lucky one to read to Genta?
