Welcome
to the Vineland Public Library
To
provide for a clean, pleasant and safe environment for Library users,
the Board of Trustees of the Vineland Public Library has established standards
to be enforced by Library staff and security, and the Vineland Police
if necessary.
Examples
of unacceptable behavior in the Library building and on the grounds include,
but are not limited to:
- Inappropriate
or disruptive behavior that interferes with the use of the library by
patrons or library staff’s performance of their duties.

Leaving a child under the age of nine (or any other individual requiring
supervision) unattended in the library without the direct supervision
of a parent or an adult age 18 or over.

Physical, sexual or verbal abuse.

Vandalism or deliberate misuse of library facilities, materials or equipment.

Use or possession of drugs or alcohol, or being under the influence
of either.

Disobeying the reasonable requests of library staff members or security
guards.

Cell phone use in the building in areas other than the outer lobbies
and the Café.

Misuse of restrooms such as bathing, washing clothes or dishes, shaving,
using the wrong restroom.

Offensive hygiene that is a nuisance to others.
-
Smoking inside the building.
-
Gambling.
-
Sleeping.
-
Peeping, staring at or following another person.
- Onscreen
display of websites inappropriate for a public environment.

Sales and/or solicitations, unless authorized by the Board of Trustees.
The
following are examples of items that may not be brought into the library:
- Weapons
- Bicycles,
skateboards, balls, bats, etc.
- bedrolls/bed
blankets
- animals,
except those needed to assist a person with a disability and authorized
program animals
Please
remember that unattended possessions represent a safety and security risk,
so keep your possessions with you at all times while in the library.
Persons
engaging in unacceptable activities will be asked to show ID and leave
the Library premises. Depending on the seriousness of the offence, further
sanctions may be imposed. If they refuse to leave, the police will be
called and sanctions will be imposed. After correcting their behavior
and complying with any sanctions imposed, they will be welcome again as
library users.
