Original Paintings and Digital Prints
by Burton Wasserman
At Vineland Public Library June 16 – July 30

Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, is pleased to present an exhibition of original paintings and digital prints by Burton Wasserman. A “Meet the Artist” reception takes place on Wednesday, June 30 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the library’s Doris Tripp Room. Refreshments will be served.
Wasserman is a retired professor of art at Rowan University. He is the author of five books, hundreds of magazine articles about artists and their work and contributes monthly columns of criticism and commentary to ICON and ART MATTERS. Wasserman has also dealt with art on radio and television in New York City and Philadelphia. Recently, he returned to radio with a series called “Art From Near and Far” which is broadcast on WWFM and WGLS-FM.

Within the gallery and exhibition world, Wasserman has has participated in many regional and national exhibitions earning numerous awards; he has held more than 40 solo shows; his paintings, relief constructions and original screen prints are numbered among the holdings of 35 museums and other institutional settings in America and abroad. Many private individuals in this country and Europe have acquired his art for their personal collections. Wasserman is represented by the highly regarded independent art dealer Francis Frost (www.francisfrost.com).
Wasserman earned a B.A. with Honors in Art from Brooklyn College. He studied drawing and painting with Ad Reinhardt, Burgoyne Diller and Robert Jay Wolff. He took art courses with Milton Brown, Leo Balet, Morris Dorsky and Edgar Thorne. He holds a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Art Education from Teachers College at Columbia University and served an assistantship to the head of the art department Edwin Ziegfeld. His major advisor was Arthur Raymond Young. Wassserman served as National President of Artists Equity.

The exhibit is available for viewing during regular library hours: Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Friday – Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. All areas of the library are accessible to people with disabilities.
