Blewcrowe (R. Denny Blew) Art Exhibit
at Vineland Public Library during January

Vineland Public Library is featuring “Blewcrowe” in an art exhibit during the month of January. Blewcrowe is the “painting name” of R. Denny Blew and is a hybrid of his surname, Blew, and his mother’s maiden name, Crowe. Original art depicting woodlands, marshes, fields, flowers and people of South Jersey are displayed. A “Meet the Artist” reception takes place on Sunday, January 24 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the library’s Doris Tripp Room. Refreshments will be served.

Blew holds degrees from the American College of Quito, Ecuador and Delaware Valley College of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He studied acrylics with Winifred Garrison. He then turned to pastels, learning their principles and possibilities from Stan Sperlak. Artist statement: “I like the simplicity and brilliance of pastels. My objective is creating local-based art that’s fresh, professional, timeless and affordable. I paint the emotions I see and hope my art demonstrates the undiscovered (and often overlooked) natural beauty of our region.” Recent awards include: Winner of Millville’s “Postcards in the Mail” contest (2007); Encore Award, South Jersey Cultural Alliance (2008); Solo show at Gallery 50 breaks gallery’s all-time sales record (2009); Honorable Mention, Gallery 50, Wetlands Competition (2009); 3rd place, Society of NJ Artists, New Beginnings Competition (2009); 3rd place, Cumberland County on Canvas Competition (2009); 2nd place, Riverfront Center, Cuisine Competition (2009); Best of Show, Society of NJ Artists, Fall Competition (2009).
