BOARD OF TRUSTEES – MINUTES
March 24, 2016

A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Vineland Public Library was held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in the Community Event Room of the Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ.

Board of Trustees President Victor Druziako called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm. Notice of this meeting had been sent to the Office of the City Clerk, The Daily Journal, The Press, Local Vineland Channels and was posted in the library in accordance with The Sunshine Law. Trustees present were Elizabeth Bermudez, Catherine Franzoi, Greg Gallo, Sally Goode, Whelma Irby, Josephine Orlando-Spinelli and Victor Druziako. Also present were Brandi Grosso, Library Director and Mary Ann Rada, Administrative Clerk.

MINUTES of February 25, 2016
Mr. Druziako, seconded by Mrs. Goode, moved that the minutes of the February 25, 2016 Board of Trustees meeting be accepted. All who attended that meeting passed the motion unanimously.

TREASURER’S REPORT for February, 2016
On a motion made by Mr. Druziako seconded by Ms. Irby, Trustees approved the Treasurer’s Report for February, 2016. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Goode, Ms. Irby, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

SCHEDULE OF ACCOUNTS for March, 2016
The Schedule of Accounts for payments for March, 2016, in the amount of $ 15,452.20 ($10,392.97 – other expenses and $5059.23 – library materials) was authorized for payment by all present on a motion made by Mr. Druziako, seconded by Mrs. Spinelli. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Goode, Ms. Irby, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND BENEFITS for month of April, 2016
On a motion made by Mr. Druziako, seconded by Mrs. Spinelli, Trustees approved the payment of salaries and benefits for the month of April, 2016. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Goode, Ms. Irby, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

There was no correspondence.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS
Community Relations Report
Trustees received a Community Relations Report for February, 2016 that was prepared by Library Associate Caroline Blough.

OLD BUSINESS
Update on Library Windows
There was no update on the window project.

NEW BUSINESS
Notes from the TLC Directors meeting
Ms. Grosso attended a meeting on March 1 with the Directors from the Millville and Bridgeton Public Libraries. Also in attendance were the Board President from the BPL and the Board President and Vice President from the MPL.

Discussion included:
• How to better serve the Townships in Cumberland County outside the Cities.
• The pros and cons of eliminating fees to the Township residents.
• Reconstituting a consortium with Cumberland County Library
• How cost effective is Sierra vs. LOGIN or other ILS vendors

Ms. Grosso will email an itemized summary of the notes of the meeting to Trustees as per their request.

On a motions made by Mr. Druziako, seconded by Mrs. Goode, Trustees moved that Ms. Gross to continue with the inquiries into better serving the surrounding communities, until it becomes apparent that it is too great a cost to Vineland Public Library. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

Approval to hire Matthew McGill as part-time Student Assistant in the Children’s Department
Mr. McGill’s position became available when Mylasia Brown resigned.

On a motion made by Mr. Druziako, seconded by Mrs. Goode, Trustees approved to hire Matthew McGill as a part-time Student Assistant for the Children’s Department. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Goode, Ms. Irby, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

Approval to create a full-time Security Guard Position
Ms. Grosso expressed the importance of having a full-time security guard on staff. She would like to move one of the part-time positions to full-time. This full-time position has been approved by the City. Trustees agree this is a necessity.

On a motion made by Mr. Druziako, seconded by Mrs. Goode, Trustees approved to create a full-time Security Guard position. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Goode, Ms. Irby, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

PUBLIC COMMENT
On motion made by Mr. Druziako and seconded by Ms. Irby, Trustees moved to open the meeting to the public. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

No members of the public were present.

On motion made by Mr. Druziako, and seconded by Ms. Irby, Trustees moved to close the public comment session of the meeting. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

OTHER
There was no other business.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
There was not a call to go into executive session.

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
