BOARD OF TRUSTEES – MINUTES
February 23, 2017

A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Vineland Public Library was held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Community Event Room of the Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ.

Board of Trustees President Victor Druziako called the meeting to order at 5:34 pm. Notice of this meeting had been sent to the Office of the City Clerk, The Daily Journal, The Press, Local Vineland Channels and was posted in the library in accordance with The Sunshine Law. Trustees present were Elizabeth Bermudez, Catherine Franzoi, Greg Gallo, Whelma Irby, Josephine Spinelli and Victor Druziako. Also present were Brandi Grosso, Library Director and Mary Ann Rada, Administrative Clerk.

MINUTES of January 26, 2017
Mrs. Spinelli, seconded by Mr. Druziako, moved that the minutes of the January 26, 2017 Board of Trustees meeting be accepted. All who attended that meeting passed the motion unanimously. Mr. Gallo abstained.

TREASURER’S REPORT for January, 2017
On a motion made by Mrs. Spinelli, seconded by Mrs. Bermudez, Trustees approved the Treasurer’s Report for January, 2017. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Spinelli, and Mr. Druziako

SCHEDULE OF ACCOUNTS for February, 2017
The Schedule of Accounts of payments for February, 2017, in the amount of $18,524.29 ($9,402.85 – other expenses and $9,121.44 – library materials), was authorized for payment by all present on a motion made by Mrs. Spinelli, seconded by Mrs. Bermudez. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND BENEFITS for month of March, 2017
On a motion made by Mrs. Spinelli, seconded by Mrs. Bermudez, Trustees approved the payment of salaries and benefits for the month of March, 2017. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

CORRESPONDENCE
There was no correspondence

At this point, Ms. Irby joined the meeting.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Ms. Grosso reviewed the Library Director’s report with Trustees. A copy of the report is attached to the original minutes.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS
Community Relations Report

Trustees received a Community Relations Report for February that was prepared by Library Associate, Caroline Blough.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Naming Opportunity for Dr. Frank DeMaio

Dr. DeMaio would like his name to read Frank DeMaio, M.D. Reference Area on the plaque.
Trustees approved the wording.

NEW BUSINESS
PNC Bank – New Check Signers

An Account Registration and Agreement form was passed around for Trustees to sign.
On a motion made by Mr. Druziako, seconded by Ms. Irby, Trustees approved to transfer the balance, in the amount of $3,784.72, in the PNC Bank account to the primary checking account in Sun Bank. The Administrative Clerk called the roll: YEAS: Mrs. Bermudez, Mrs. Franzoi, Mr. Gallo, Ms. Irby, Mrs. Spinelli and Mr. Druziako

PUBLIC COMMENT
On motion made by Mrs. Spinelli and seconded by Ms. Irby, Trustees moved to open the meeting to the public. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

No members of the public were present.

Mr. Druziako declared the Public Comment Session closed.

OTHER
Ms. Grosso informed Trustees the she received a letter from Mary Chute, State Librarian. Vineland Library has been selected to participate in the SWAT Team Transformation 2017 program.

Mr. Druziako discussed adding a “consent agenda” to the agenda for routine business that must be approved. By voting collectively on monthly routine business, the meetings would be conducted more efficiently. Trustees will try this at the next meeting.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
There was no need to go into executive session.

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:52 p.m.
