World Ends
by Veronica Cardona

Someday the world
might come to an end
No one can stop it
The world must end
for a reason
It is a very tragic world
It will never change
Unless the world ends
The world
needs to become
a place for peace
no hunting, fighting
Killings
It will all end
and it will become much
better in the future
Peace and quiet
Someday it will end
Water
Then the world ends

Ripped Between
A Teenager’s Lament

by Emily Mulligan

As I walk down this road we call life,
I come upon two separate paths, each leading to unknown worlds.
“To the right or the left?” I ask myself.
I take in the details of each world with thoughtfulness.

To the left is a beautiful place.
Newly bloomed flowers reside in the fresh ground and dew droplets shine
in the gleaming sun like diamonds.
The trees sway as if they are exotic dancers and their rustling leaves emanate
lovely songs, sunlight making their leaves glow.

But the creature standing in this enchanting world sends cold shivers down my spine.
The creature has evil features: blood red eyes, gnarled teeth that drip with
saliva and a black body, as black as the midnight sky.

When I turn to the other road, there is a place as evil as the monster sneering at me.
The background has a crude crimson light pouring onto the land; wails of death float to my ears.
Glaring eyes stare at me behind the black curtain of hatred and glimpses of
contorted faces reflect in my eyes.

But a form of something stunning decides to let my eyes rest on her.
A woman with pink, welcoming lips and glistening emerald eyes smiles at me.
Her hairs looks as if a constant wind brushes through it and she seems to float.

These places comfort me.
I think I shall just return back home.
Where I do not need to make decisions for years to come.
