Get out there
by Asia Garcia
Have you ever dared to think outside
the square?
Or were you too scared?
Gonna make it one day you swear.
Or you just don't care
Living live in a bubble,
living life calm and subtle.
Then you see people taking off in shuttles,
going to outer-space.
Seeing different places;
seeing different faces.
You're eating a Tasty-Kake from the dollar store
while everyone else is eating a smorgasbord.
See, you can get so much more.
Opportunity is knocking at your door.
Get out there and explore.
From the Himalayan Mountains to the Jersey Shore,
from the Milky Way to the Earth's core;
learning something new every day.
You'll never get bored.
Do you wanna know why the world goes 'round;
why our feet stay on the ground?
I do.
I don't know about you.
So much to know,
So much knowledge to grow.
You're just movin' too slow for me.
I wanna soar above the trees.
I know you must be tired of the same thing day after day.
Same people, same teachers, with the same thing to say.
I want my life to have meaning,
instead of being home sleeping.
Ask yourself, are you where you wanna be?
Seeing as far as you wanna see, out there getting' that
cheese?
Or are you waitin' for me?
I can't hold your hand.
You gotta make your own moves
and walk in your own shoes.
You decide what's corny and what's cool.
Just do you
Cuz no one can do it like you do.
Now, you get whatever you get out of my poem.
And when you're home alone, think of my poetry song.

An Embrace of Elevated Tiers
by Liz Funk
The teast of my first kiss
still lingers upon my lips
The apex of my adolescence
has come and gone,
but I am not yet remorseful.
The warmth from his lips
still
dallying on mine
the twinkle in my eyes still
apparent
from the moment that we
held
our gaze. Two hearts, two
bodies, two souls
moving in unison at the
whim of our sacred mouths.
Controlled only
by bliss we embraced upon
another
tier of camaraderie.
The nap of his skin, I can
still feel
upon my fingertips, grazing
the peachy smooth grain
of his angelic countenance.
Running his fingers through
my wild mane,
I felt his soul inside me,
through the clearest connection
known to man and to
woman, whom I've become
on the day of my first kiss.

Love is
by Sara Iwantschenko
Love is a word that doesn't come out
easy
Love is a feeling that makes you queasy
Love is an endless pit you can't get out
Love isn't just a word you say, but a word you shout.
Love is a word that can lead to heartache
Love is a feeling that can lead to heartbreak
Love is a word that means everything
Love is beauty
Love is joyful
Love is happy
Love is sad
Loves is mad
Love is sweet
Love is a feeling you just can't beat.
