I Love You by Jacqueline Marquez, 13, Florida (formerly Vineland)I love you not only because you are But because of who I am when I am with you. I love you because of all the goodness That you find and discover in me. I love you because you know when To laugh at me or when to take me seriously. I love you because when I met you It didn’t take me long to lose my heart. I love you because I love the way that you look At me and smile at me. But most of all, I love the way I love you more Each and every day. September 11, 2001 Samantha Braidi, Age 13 September 11, 2001 A day of tragedy in the golden sun
Not just one life was shattered and torn Thousands no longer will be as when born
Our country, a place we can be free Was shattered and torn for all to see
Frozen in time, planes crashing, a total of four Taking lives, heroes, forever more
But we are Americans and we’ll fight back Against this evil and horrendous act
No one can bury or kill our nation so strong We will rebuild in steel, concrete and song
You can’t take us down, from land or flights above, we Are Americans and we’ll defend this land we love
So while we mourn and pray for lives lost For heroes trying to save others, no matter the cost
We will rebound and remember to fear us, yes you must
Because we are Americans on our land and in God we trust… Untitled Joshua Bocher, Age 15 Life is a journey up and down a mountain. At a young age, You begin your climb. Uncomfortable and dependant on others, You go on out of curiosity. Soon, the world seems different, And questions arise. Traveling on and on, You pick up what you need to survive, Or you fall off the mountain Far too early. Eventually, You reach the top, And you begin to descend into delusion. Your apex is long gone, As you transcend roles. You may have experienced a lot, But time is not on your side As you are going down. Your bones and muscles are stiff, Being prime is just a memory. You start, As you began. After this trip, you are back at the bottom of the mountain, And dependent on others Until you finally step off the mountain Into oblivion. |
